With the weight of the veena in her hands and the weight of expectations of her devotees on her shoulders, Goddess Sharada left her Shringeri home down south in the misty rainforests of Karnataka to make a long journey to her snowy abode up north in Kashmir. A procession adorned by flowers and led by the mighty elephants left Sharada Peetham on 24th of Jan, 2023 and passed through Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jammu, Kupwara to finally her new home.

The consecrated idol of the Goddess of knowledge made of five metals (panchaloha) reached its destination at Sharda Temple, Teetwal, Kashmir. A beautiful little village by

the banks of kishanganga river. Not far from it, across border, is the original abode of the goddess:

'The great Sharada Peeth of kashmir'!

Where the greatest Saints and scholars like Adi Shankaracharya, Kalhana, Tonmi Sambhota and the likes studied. Tragically, today it lies in ruins.

The university was at par with ancient India’s greatest universities like Nalanda and Takshashila with 5000 resident scholars and the world’s largest library! The university had its own script, Sharada, named after Goddess Sharada/Saraswati herself!

Now here she is again, back in the valley, only to find the script and the language dedicated to her on a verge of extinction. The Goddess now carries a weight far greater than that of her veena. The country and the community must do its part to revive kashmiri language and the script namesake of the goddess herself! #Kashmirilanguage #kashmiribooks #Kashmirilanguagebooks #Iskashmiridifficult Help every indigenous child of kashmir learn and speak their mother-tongue.
